Valentine's Day 3D card


I have this tendency to post up things after they have long gone 
and in this case, Valentine's Day has been over for close to a month
but I still think that this is a very simple and pretty card to make 
regardless if it is for Valentine's Day and thus decided to post it up.

The Creative Place has a very detailed step by step tutorial on
how to create this card and yes, it is on my to do list *grin*
I just need to get my hands on a sewing machine *huhuhuhu*

Papercraft Angels

It's strange. I was talking about papercraft yesterday, and while doing my interweb surfing, I chanced upon this blog called All Sorts and whilest I browsed through the blog's freebie section {I am a sucker for freebies!}, I saw this super cute picture of an angel and lo and behold, it was a papercraft angel called The Sweet Heart Angel which was for Valentine's Day.


Without thinking twice about it, I downloaded the PDF {click here to download the PDF} and added it to my list of arts and crafts to do on Pinterest *smiles smiles grin grin* Isn't it seriously so adorable? Am super digging the colours.

I then scrolled down furthur and saw this adorable Starry Christmas Angel as well for Christmas and though both Valentine's Day and Christmas has come and gone, there is no time like the present to start planning *grins*  {You can click here to download the PDF}. Valentine's Day in a box


Valentine's Day has come and gone but when I saw this post on
You Are My Fave, I could not not post this lovely idea of 
Valentine's Day in a box.

Filled with a lovely array of all things pink and white, 
such as heart cups, a card,  a flower clip, ribbon, 
heart brads + heart hole punch, clothespins + washi tape, 
Ritter Sport chocolate, balloons, gummy bears 
and other odds and ends, the Valentine's Day in a box 
is just a lovely and sweet gift for that special someone.


I remember making my own little box for my friend 
quite a few years ago. It was a birthday box 
with things I bought for her to relax.
Chocolate, candy, a facial mask, a book, a card and some other
stuff. I reckon sometimes and assortment of smaller gifts as 
opposed to a giant large gift would have the same effect. 
Plus depending on what you put inside, it can be quite cost
efficient as well if you are on a tight budget.
At the end of the day, it is the thought that counts and I am sure
that your friend will enjoy the gift box whatever it may contain.

V'day 2012

Hello all. Have been super busy with Project Happily Ever After... 
after all its in about 3 days time!!! *gasp* 
I can't believe it but its true... so true. 

 For the most part, things are sorted but there are a 
couple more things that I need to design and print for the dinner. 
So am in the midst of doing that. 

 Today is also Valentine's Day!!! 
 So, a very Happy Valentine's Day to all of you. 
Today is also my last Valentine's Day as a 
single twenty something. *woot woot* 
 Anyways, best I get back to completing my stuff...
just wanted to quickly wish all of you an awesome 
Valentine's Day *hugs*

Happy Valentines Day

Dear Readers,


Happy Valentine's Day. I wrote about Love Etc. last year and I would just like to share what I wrote again, this Valentine's Day {this edition has been slightly amended}. I hope that all of you will be blessed with love for it is sincerely the best gift to ever give or to receive.


"When I was younger, I thought I knew all about love. I talked about it, read about it and watched it... Or more like versions of it. Now older and slighty wiser, I know that love isn't all about good times, romance and happy endings. 

Love is about acceptance of the other persons shortcomings and loving them despite of it.



Love is about trying when all else seems impossible.

Love is about trust and forgiveness and learning from past mistakes and moving along together instead of moving apart.



Love is about encouraging and building another's hopes and dreams even if their plans don't quite fit yours.

Love is about growing together emotional and spiritually.

Love is about putting the other persons needs before your needs and giving them the best you can possibly give.



Love is when you put aside your dreams to make way for theirs because what makes them happy, makes you happy.

Love is embracing and sharing each others differences instead of fighting over it.

Love is taking care of the other person and looking out for them.

Love is about walking together on the same journey eventhough you may take different paths to get to the destination.

Love is discovering the magic in the simple.



Love is giving up that last nugget, sip of Coke or bite of ice cream.  

As each day passes, I am taught something new about love and I hope that I will continue to learn and to experience this wonderful, crazy, little, big thing called love."

V-Day Inspiration #2

The love bug has struck again!!!
More V'Day ideas for those crafty folks out there *grins grins*

Some ideas to give to a friend {friends are so very important in our lives}
 or loved ones are personalized CDs, chocolates or handmade greetings.
The heart shaped chocolate biscuit with strawberry ice cream
is also another idea for an inexpensive yet utterly enjoyable
Valentine's gift. However, I am particularly taken by the colourful love bugs 
which are sure to brighten up every nook and cranny!!! 
{can someone make one for me? Pretty please???}

The idea for paper hearts to hang in front of windows is a lovely simple
idea {Note to self: Possible project for Project Love Nest!} 
as is the idea of going green and loving the environment {as well as 
the recipient of your gift} by making a bookmark out of cardboard.

I love Valentine's Day - just think of the  
pretty pretty pink and red things, hearts, lace,
chocolates, creative ideas and the like {I am such a sap!}.

My 26th Birthday

I have wanted to update my blog for some time but somehow never did quite get around to doing it. I thought I would write a ‘last post aged 25’ and a ‘first post aged 26’ but as you can see that has not materialized!

Well since I missed those two semi-momentous occasions and since I have not yet learnt how to turn back time, I will just leave you with some updates about how life has been for me since the last time I wrote and was feeling un-CNY-ish!

My Birthday

evious years I have always awaited this day with anticipation and much expectation. However, this year, I somehow did not really ‘wish’ for anything but rather let the day unfold for itself which I believe is how I should have approached not only my previous b’day celebrations and other occasions… that way my fragile heart would not have had the opportunity to be crushed.

Now let me take you back a little to me aged 12. When I was 12, I wanted to get married when I was 24 and have my first kid aged 26. I think my 12 year old self would understand that both these slightly delusional ‘goals/aspirations’ will NOT be happening (DUH!). However, it just made me think about where I am at this present time and where I thought I would be when I was 12… and to be honest, I like where I am now instead of where I thought/aspired to be.

So, yes back to my b’day. My celebrations started of with JL bringing me to Michelangelos@Pavillion for some Italian food - which to be honest wasn’t all that great (doubt I will be dining there again anytime soon!) – after work on Friday the 15th. After the not so yummy dinner, we went to C.Club for some drinks and great views of Bintang Walk. Had some pretty decent tiramisu though slightly pricey… but it was worth the view. There was even some fireworks shooting through the sky that night ~ I reckon they knew it was my b’day *smiles*
After work on the last day of my being 25, B and I went for dinner and since we had cravings for MCD’s, we is goes there. This was followed by ice cream
(brownie sundae = Love Potion #31 & Peppermint Chip) ~ Baskin Robbins.
It was yummy ~ thanks B!

On the 19th itself (my b’day!), I went to work as usual. Had wanted to take leave but had an important branding exercise which got cancelled on the day itself – bummer! Anyways, it was a pretty all right day with no complaints and no idiots calling (which is always great). Had lunch with JL, Dee and Shirley at TGIF and got out of making a silly speech ~ phew!

After lunch, as I got out of the elevator, the receptionist called to me and presented me with the prettiest bouquet I have ever received. It was in pink and purple hues (see gorgeous pics). The bouquet was not from a secret admirer or from Sunshine (Sunshine already got me flowers for Valentines Day which was a wonderful surprise!) but from my boss Chris. She is such a thoughtful person I have to say.

Later in the evening, we had the office party where my office friends gathered round and sang for my colleague and I. We had low fat peach cheese cake (I think it was that), which was pretty delicious. I also received two presents from the office peeps. I got an adorable Hello Kitty cookie jar and a book ‘The Purpose Driven Life’.

I had actually wanted to buy that book yonks ago but never really got down to it until 2 weeks before my birthday. I thought that it was high time that I read it and besides, it was on sale and was the last copy of the book in the shop. And then now for my birthday I receive the same book. I think it is a sign that I should read the book really *smiles*
After work, Sunshine came to pick me up and we went to two places to survey. The first was Marketplace. It looked pretty snazzy but the food didn’t rouse my appetite. The views and ambience was pretty good though and Sunshine and I plan to go there again to just have drinks. The second place we surveyed passed the test, SassoRosso. Its and Italian restaurant and I have to say that I had the best tiramisu ever there. The food was pretty good as well though the escargot could have worked harder for the price we paid. The Long Island Tea never tasted better as well *grin grin*

My secondary school friends also had a birthday lunch cum farewell (for another friends of ours who was migrating to NZ!) at Banquet @ Bangsar Village 2 on 23 February. The food was alright… nothing WOW… and do we decided to adjourn to Delicious for dessert and well the deserts were as always triple yums!

Overall, my birthday was a blast. Perhaps it was because there were no expectations this year… but I was very surprised by the presents I received, the calls (especially from Philip and Gerard – though was unable to reach the phone in time), SMS’s and the Facebook messages ~ thanks everyone from the bottom of my heart!
I also received several lovely presents:
Sunshine ~ A lovely professional looking Parker pen and dinner
My parents ~ Cash and a handy external hard drive which I have been wanting for yonks
Catherine ~ A pretty pretty bag from Nine West
Brother and Pauline ~ A pretty balloon and uber cute tortoise boxers
Brian ~ A gorgeous CNY Barbie doll for my collection
And many many dinners and drinks from several friends *smiles smiles*
So here’s to another fantastic year ahead for me.

My 26th year is going to be filled with only wonderful moments and happy memories. Amen!

UPDATES!

WorkWork has been… crazy? Tiring? Exhausting? Frustrating? Exhilarating? Exciting? Great? Arghhh? Mental? … yup… work has been all that. I recently found out that I might have a new manager. On one hand I am happy about getting a new friend and mentor and on another hand I am worried that just like my old boss, this new person would be a handful (to put it mildly).

My mum also thinks that hiring this new person will jeopardize my chances of being promoted which could be true though I like to think (and opt to think) that my performance will speak for itself. I am leaving this in God’s secure hands and I know that whatever happens, He will be there to catch me or hold my hand and walk beside me.

Have been making new friends, or rather acquaintances in the office. It’s nice to walk around the office and know people for a change. Hopefully in the months to come I will find true friends with whom I can share my ‘real’ thoughts with.

So far, I don’t dread going to work and actually look forward to it. For now I am enjoying things and hope that this feeling lasts *smiles* The only thing that sucks is the time that I don’t have anymore. When I was working in the hovel, I used to have heaps of time to do everything and nothing and now, I don’t have that time anymore. But I am really trying to go home earlier and to be more efficient in what I do. Hopefully I will try to find that much needed balance that everyone talks about but hardly ever gets right.

Love Life

Now here is a topic that I try to skirt around… to say that my relationship is perfect and A OK would be a lie. To say that it sucks to the maximum is a lie as well… so I guess it is somewhere in between where relationships usually are.

My relationship is pretty okay. There is love and all that jazz still in the picture but there are other problems crowding in making this rosy picture look well, slightly blurry, fuzzy and out of focus. I once thought that this “human and real” problems like finances would never effect me and my little cocoon I had built around my little world but that naïve child in me is gone and I know better.

Both Sunshine and I are trying to work things out but it is hard to find middle ground, a compromise when both people are equally as head strong and stubborn. I am hoping that in time things will work out between us and I for one am really trying to make it work out. For once in my life I see something worth fighting and waiting for… however, for how long I am not quite sure… I guess however cliché it may sound… only time will tell.

Hobbies
Ahhh my hobbies. How I miss having the time to indulge in them. I remember days prior to my working when I had oodles of time on my hands and how I would make my cards and write letters to all my Aussie friends. As you must have guessed, these days are long gone replaced instead with a frantic weekends trying my best to fit everything into two days.

Then there are my books. I have been on book shopping binges and have bought heaps of books, which of course I have not read. The problem I am now facing is where I am going to store the books. The current bookcase I have is already stuffed to the brim with books and it’s a shame that all of them can’t fit together.

Am thinking of converting the spare room downstairs into a library or study of sorts but that would cost $$$ and am currently saving for my ‘grand trip’.
Just got several new books (bought and rented) and of course am super happy and delighted about them *smiles smiles*

Have been working with the scrapbooking shop and that is really great as I get to be near arts and crafts stuff when I work ~ sweet! I also have been offered to write for my ex client and hopefully that works out well. The only thing now would be to be disciplined and to sacrifice a whole chunk of my free time doing this. Oh well… no one said life was going to be easy.

Well I think I have written enough for 16 minutes of reading.

Seasons Greetings

I know this blog has been left to gather dust and cobwebs but much has been happening in my life and although there is much to say, I sometimes don't feel like writing down my thoughts and should I have some elusive moments of free time I can't blog as well since my blasted PC is still being reconstructed (please feel free to donate to the new fund “BUY *DREAM WEAVER* A LAPTOP FUND”) and I dare not get caught blogging during office hours… so here I am using the office PC after office hours.

Anyways, I will blog soon… long long blogs about my semi-interesting life – be prepared for long posts!

Love

What Love is to me...

  • Love is giving up your last bite of ice cream and hot dog and remote control, sharing your blanket on cold nights, making an early breakfast for someone and sharing cuddly hugs.
  • Love is thinking of the other person in every decision that you make, massaging their body and making them smile after a long hard day even though you are equally as tired, listening to their winges for the 106th time and giving the same advice for the 106th time, finishing each others sentences and laughing about the same things and just smiling like an idiot every time the thought of that person enters your mind.

  • Love means forgiveness for all past and future transgressions, acceptance of faults both big and small, sacrificing everything; ensuring happiness and contentment each day and making that someone feel complete

My 23rd Valentines Day...

I remember that when I was 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 years old, I would wait every year for Valentines Day to come around. I would browse the card section at Memory Lane and choose the card that I would most like to receive. I would then set about conjuring up images of the crush of the moment (a secret admirer would be alright as well) sending me that card along with a bunch of beautiful roses with babies breath, ribbons, crushed paper and green ferns or some cuddly cute teddy bear.

I remember so clearly every year in school when certain societies would sell roses and cards and stuff like that... and I would fervently pray to receive one... just ONE... from someone the said crush of the moment. Flowers came at times, though they were from wonderful friends of mine (thanks for the thought!) and never from a crush.
So my young idiot self thought that I was never good enough for the bouquets or the stalks or the cards or the gifts and as each year passed, the hope it me dimmed a little. I figured that in life there were: a) the girls that got the damn bouquets every year b) the girls that never got the bouquets or the stalks c) the girls that sent flowers to themselves and pretended that some admirer had sent them and d) the girls that just never really cared about the freaking flowers begin with. I am such a B girl... *sigh sigh*
And so for the past 11 years, I have been waiting...

I have waited hopefully for so long that in some way I stopped believing that the said crush or boyfriend or admirer would ever come. Sure I have gotten flowers before... but never a bouquet on Valentines Day... but things changed on my 23rd Valentines Day.

How silly of me to get so excited about these girly things... me the queen burper herself. But I love flowers and have always loved them and pined for them and now I have them. A magnificent bunch of lovely pink roses with white babies breath, green ferns and gorgeous purple flowers (dont know what they are) all tied with huge assssss pink ribbon and crushed pink and purple paper. Everything I have ever dreamt and fantasised of and wanted! *swoon swoon* What a surprise! *grin grin*

The Possum gave them to me if you we were wondering. He has some pretty interesting things under his sleeve this year. Perhaps he feels me slipping away... maybe he feels like he should buck up... I don't know... but there was the bouquet in his arms this morning when he woke me up at an ungodly hour of 9.36am. I went out squinting in my pj's and there he was with the flowers. I wanted to die and melt in a puddle of mush and goo. Then there was the dinner at Prego's at Westin, the Hallmark Valentines Day card, the whole open the doors thingy and the postcards sent from South Africa. *grin grin* I am smiling now as I type but in my heart I feel bad, I feel guilty and I feel happy all at the same time.

That's the wonder of the human heart is it not? To feel love, contempt, anger, hurt, sadness, jealously, guilt, happiness, hope and joy all at the same time... The night of my 23rd Valentines Day after Prego was spent at Alisan mamak with a couple of my friends and then back home here in front of the pc typing out my thoughts. On a sad note though, I received a message from a friend on Friendster, message 70, and it tore my heart into pieces. I hate messages like that. So I promptly deleted it and realised that it didn't quite matter anymore what the message was... I had known it all along.

So I erase that sad thought from my head, I wipe a tear that strayed from my eye to my cheek and I think of the bouquet and hopeful days to come. Tonight I think I will sleep with a smile on my face. Thanks for remembering how to make me smile when I am adamant on not smiling. Thanks Possum for making one of my dreams come true *smile smile*

This Valentines Day...

The beginning of February for me is always tinged with excitement and anticipation for this is 'the' month when all the special events happen... namely my birthday and valentines day... but this year I had to add CNY and also the Possums and my anniversary. I was happy with anticipation whilst Possum was just thinking of the money he had to spend (poor child!)

Anyways, Valentines Day. I never really honestly had a REAL Valentines Day. The sort with the roses, the candle light dinner and the whole card and gifts thingy and in complete honesty, YES... I want one of those days. I have dreaded Valentines Day for as long as I can remember for it has only forced me to realize that a) I am single this year and b) No one cares enough for me. I also had to write like lists of things to do on Valentines Day when you are single and when you are a couple for 17 mag (the month of Feb) and I really sat down and thought of all the things I would want to do whether I was single or in a relationship with someone.

I remember only 2 Valentines Days one with the malats last year where we had a Hot dog party G's place and talked till like late in the night (I remember we saw some strange looking birds flying in formation) and one with my high shcool sweetheart - we were playing ping pong in his house. I suppose I never really got the REAL valentines day that I and many many others crave, but I still keep on hoping for it. Why? I don't really know.

This Valentines Day was everything I ever wanted. It started of early. The Possum and I were at Souled Out in Hartamas on the 13th of Feb and naturally stayed till about 2am the next day, Valentines Day. Besides getting a lovely red rose (the first rose I have recieved from a boy on Valentines Day that was a bf), I got yummy yummy alcohol to drink. We had to leave early as I had class and Possum had work. After work though, he came to pick me up in the drizzle and of we went to the little Italian restaurant he had picked in Hartamas. A real candle light dinner followed with massive plates of pasta (yums). The meal ended quickly as we were both ravishly hungry. After the dinner, which was pretty alright, we went back to his house as it was his mothers birthday... and we proceeded to play our all time fav game BurnOut 3. I won btw!

His friends called and asked us to join them at the futsal place near Paramount and so we went to see them. Possum couldn't resist the lure of the game and rolled up his jeans and played his heart out whilest I sat and chatted with the other girlfriends of the players that were there. It was fun talking with the girls as we already knew each other and we bitched and gossiped for a good 2 hours. The night ended early as well as Possum had to go to work the next day... before that though, he gave me the hugest Valentine card ever (biggest card I ever got anyways!) and I was so happy... hehehe... All my friends were like "wahhh!" "ohhh" "ahhh" and my girlfriends proceeded to question their poor boyfriends on why they didn't get any cards, whilst the guys were asking the blushing Possum why he suddenly had changed. I was fuzzy all over holding the card which had several photos of us scattered around the card with silver glitter - just the things I like!

At home, I realized that my mental checklist of things for a perfect Valentines Day had indeed been accomplished and as I lay my head on the pillow and curled up under the covers, I realized that this was really a Happy Happy Valentines Day. Thanks Possum... I love you too!
