Beautiful Italy

I have been MIA for a while now. Work has kept me on my toes. Project Love Nest is really taking off. Project Happily Ever is moving along... slowly but steadily. And The Princess Project and Project Let's Create is just there... stagnant like stale muggy water! *lalalalalala* {I try... I try}

Anyways, I saw this beautiful pictures of Italy and marveled at the bright and happy colours of the buildings and I am hoping that one day I too will able to visit this lovely country of pizza and pasta and bright coloured buildings *smiles smiles* I will update you guys soon on what's been going on and a sincere thanks to all my readers for continuing to read this Little Piece of Heaven.

Kate Spade Neras

I don't know when I started falling in love with Kate Spade stuff. I think it was on one of my inter-web surfing trips when I saw her pretty things!! *smiles* After that, I regularly stalked the Kate Spade site *blush* to look at all the new stuff that she had. After all the said inter-web stalking and gawking at the pretty things, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that a Kate Spade store was opening in the up-market shopping centre, The Gardens.

I surfed the web and looked at prices and knew I could not afford anything... so I stayed away from the store. Then about two months ago, B and I were at the Gardens, so I thought I might as well finally visit the store and finally get to touch and feel these pretties. I may have even secretly hoped that I would walk in there and find something that I could afford.

In I skipped and ooooo-ed....and ahhhhhh-ed at the pretty things. I touched and put down. Touched and put down and just basically gawked like a geek at the pretty things. It was then at the shoes section that I saw her.  Sitting so shiny and prettily on a shelf --- The Kate Spade Neras!!!

Seen @ ShoeperWoman

It was heart at first sight and without even thinking about it nor flipping the shoes to check out the price tag {it's an awful habit I have - but one that is necessary to ensure that I know how much I am spending before I buy the item}, I almost reverently put the pink pair of flats on the ground, slipped of my rather dodgy, dirty slipper and slid my feed into the flats.

It was HEAVENLY!!!
My feet sighed with pleasure and I strutted up and down feeling like a million bucks. It was like walking on a cloud while felling pretty... oh so preeetttyyy!!! *snickers snickers like a geeky teen*

After having my feet snuggled into these beauties for what must have have felt like an hour {but was more like a minute}, I reverently slid them off my feet and slid them this time into the black Nera's. They still looked heaps good on my feet I have to add. Then reluctantly, I slid them off and stuffed my feet back into my scuffed loyal comfy slippers. I held the beauties in my hands and shyly handed them back to the salesman. I sheepishly asked him the price of these beauties and hoped and hoped that he would say "Oh, these? They are on sale... only RM300.00." I would then say. "Really. I will take them. Now!" but instead, he said "RM1,4..." I never did hear the rest to be honest because when a pair of shoes starts with a thousand blablabla, the logical thing to do would be to put them down gently and run away!
Seen @ Style Feeder

I did not run but said 'thank you' to the kind salesman and took a last longing look at the beautiful pair of pink and black flats and promptly walked away. I felt proud I did not turn to look lingeringly at the flats but instead walked away quick quickly. I guess it was also because I was afraid that I would do something drastic and crazy like whip out my credit card and say to the salesman "OK. I will take these. They were meant for my feet!"

I don't know why I am talking about these beauties again {and to be honest, I still don't know which pair I would have bought ~ the black ones or the pink ones}. Maybe it was because I happened upon a Kate Spade post or because I felt like buying a new pair of flats. But really... a thousand plus bucks for a pair of flats? They are gorgeous and was oh so comfy but a thousand plus bucks!!! *tsk tsk tsk*
I can think of several things to buy with that money instead of a pair of shoes.

So, the Kate Spade Nera's will just be there... in my memory and recorded on my blog. Perhaps one day there will be an uber good sale {90% off perhaps} I will buy these beauties and I will joyful and proudly strut around in them and feel like a million and one bucks!

One Day

I saw the movie trailer {several times} for 'One Day' and thought to myself that this was a must see type of movie. My kind of movie. And then I found out it was a book  written by David Nicholls and naturally I will be buying it and indulging in it. Am thinking this will be the first book I start reading in the Love Nest *smiles*

Anyways, the summary of 'One Day' is as follows: Emma Morley and Dexter Meyhew, meet properly for the first time on the 15th July 1988, the night of their graduation from University. We meet them again, on the same day each year for the next twenty years. Each chapter of the book, covers Emma and Dexter’s lives on that day, following their lives, loves and tribulations, and more importantly their enduring friendship. You see, Emma and Dexter have one of those friendships, that is so strong and deep it is often to the detriment of others in their lives.

I reckon I am going to heart the book and the movie!!!

I absolutely love everything about this photo including of course the lounge which looks uber comfy. The styling is just awesome really and it would be just so great if I could have everything just like this picture. The cushions are so adorable, the white carpet with the blue circles, the white trunk type thingy, the frames on the wall and the Japanese lanterns are all things I heart!!! I just feel like slouching down onto this lounge to read while sipping on something hot and yummy. Simply awesome. *grin grin grin*

The Calligrapher’s Daughter

Seen @ BookXcess

The Calligrapher’s Daughter by Eugenia Kim         RRP: RM99.90 Price: RM19.90
Najin Han, the privileged daughter of a calligrapher, longs to choose her own destiny. Smart & headstrong, she is encouraged by her mother-but her stern father is determined to maintain tradition, especially as the Japanese steadily gain control of his beloved country. When he seeks to marry 14-year-old Najin into an aristocratic family, her mother defies generations of obedient wives & instead sends her daughter to serve in the king’s court as a companion to a young princess. But the king is soon assassinated, & the centuries-old dynastic culture comes to its end. In the shadow of the dying monarchy, Najin begins a journey through increasing oppression that will change her world forever. As she desperately seeks to continue her education, will the unexpected love she finds along the way be enough to sustain her through the violence & subjugation her country continues to face? Spanning 30 years,
The Calligapher’s Daughter is an exquisite novel about a country torn between ancient customs & modern possibilities, a family ultimately united by love & a woman who never gives up her search for freedom.

This will probably be the next book that I purchse {yes yes... I know I have heaps of unread delights waiting in boxes and big big black bags... but you know me, the book collector and lover}! The synopsis of ths story sounds really good and look at the price!!! RM19.90! You know what that is right? A steal!

For the benefit of my readers who are not familliar, books in Malaysia are not cheap. They go from RM32.90 upwards depending on who the publisher is, whether it is a paperback or a hardcover and if they are new books or older ones. Most savvy Malaysians and of course book lovers will know to shop during sales.

The best book sale I have been to is the Big Bad Wolf book sale. I bought heaps and heaps of books for a fraction of the price {I paid maybe 10%-25% of the original price} and saved heaps as well. My parents kinda support my passion for books but hate the fact that I have so many boxes of them. I hate that too but really, with the job that I have and my passion for arts and crafts, interweb surfing, TV series watching and etc... books get sidelined at times.

BookXcess the company that also organises the Big Bad Wolf sale is also an awsome place to buy books as the prices are reduced quite considerably. I love the fact that more people have access to books now. I can't wait to dive into my new books and flip through the pages and touch their covers.......... {ok... I just sounded like a wierdo. forgive me! I just love books!!!}. So if you are a Malaysian who loves books and has never been to BookXcess, please please go {Btw, am not endorsed or paid to write this. I just heart books}. It's an awesome book haven! Happy Reading all!!!

Furlicious

Seen @ PB Teen

Is there anything more lovely than sitting down in this furry bean bag!!! I suppose it would be kind of hot to have a bean bag like this in Malaysia but if it was in an air-conditioned room I am sure it would be okay. I can just imagine however, a winter day and me curled up in one of these furlicious bean bags just chilling out, watching my series or reading {yes I am not very creative} or even talking to my family, friends or B. Very cool indeed!!!

Metamorphosis Bookshelf

"This new bookshelf imagined by artist and designer Sebastian Errazuriz, is based on his memories of thick ivy used as a storage solution. We’re looking at a very interesting yet creepy furniture piece that’s going to bring some of that ivy back into the house. The Metamorphosis is made of Baltic birch plywood painted in black, and you’ll have a hard time finding matching furniture for it, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider it as an out-of-the-box book storing idea for your modern home".
Via Sebastian Errazuriz - Furniture Fashion

I reckons this is an awesome new way to feature the heaps of books that I have. True it is a little creepy but it ain't too bad. Nothing a little pink, flowers and ribbons can't spruce up *snickers snickers*

Pretty Things #1 - Napkin Rings

Seen @ Ringoblog

Seen @ Trendir

In Malaysia we seldom if ever, use napkins at home and what a shame that is... after all, when can we use such pretty napkin rings if we don't use napkins? During my trawls through the interweb, I have come across several napkin rings which caught my eye. In fact, should I be living in a western country where napkins at home were a norm, I would so splurge on napkins and gorgeous napkin rings to decorate my love nest {look at the uber cute napkin ring with the nest and two blue eggs - I heart!}. Hope you enjoy these pieces of prettiness!

Ideas for the Nest #1

Here are some really nice things that I have seen and have fallen in love with. I believe they are also awesome ideas for the nest {Project Love Nest - that is}. I am  seriously thinking of doing the scrabble tile pillow case as its not only real cute but seems simple enough to recreate *grins* Lets see how/when/if I manage to get it done *snickers*

Then there are the pretty vertical bookshelves which will be just awesome for Project Love Nest as well. It saves space and looks simple. I managed to get some shelving units but they are black shelves from Ikea which is pretty cool too. B and I will be painting it white though these shelves will not be used to store books but will used instead to showcase our toy collection and other odds and ends.

The little Chinese takeaway packages are heaps cute and would be super cute as wedding favours but these thing aren't cheap at all so maybe I will give this a miss. Still I feel inspired when I see these pretty things. The little koala-ish cap is heaps cute as well. I heart!!! I just don't know where I am going to wear this little cutie pie to. The bottle with the sweets and customized label is another awesome idea for weddings/parties.

The picture of the heart with the words love will look awesome in my new home. Might think of doing something similar {Note: Must dig up old adobe notes from my creative class like 6-7 years ago}. And lastly there is the black and cream living room interior which is real chic. I adore th damask pillow cases and the splashes of bright pink to jazz up the cream and black. I can't get enough of natural light and love love the single easel, lamp and bowl of fruit in front of the window - Simple. Elegant. Chic. *smiles*

Interior Ideas # 5 - Rest Room

If I could have a rest room such as the one above, I would be very happy indeed. You must be thinking, 'Gawd, it doesn't take very much for her to be happy'... but its true. It does take very little to get me smiling and happy and really, just look at the beauty of this rest room. The tiles on the wall remind me of  white mother-of-pearl  {see bag below for example of white mother-of-pearl} and its just gorgeous!!!

Seen @ eBags

Then there is the pretty gauzy curtains framing the window, the lovely wood flooring {not ever possible in Malaysia}, the elegant chandelier and wall lights, the dresser and sink and the impressive mirror. I also love the little towel rack thingy by the window. Ahhhh *blissful happy sigh*... such beauty. One day I will have such a relaxing and beautitful place to answer to the call of mother nature *hehehe*

Kade Spade would-like-to-haves

B forwarded me a photo of the Hello Goodbye Ski Hat to start of my day and it worked. I don't know if it was due to the pretty red colour of the ski hat {have been into red for awhile now} or the cute little pompoms or that I never owned a proper ski hat in my life {beanies don't quite count}. After realising that the ski hat was from Kate Spade {whose stuff I like}, I decided to do some browsing and found two other 'would-like-to-haves'.

These items are not very practical at all since I live in a very "Khatulistiwa" {Khatulistiwa means Equator} climate which consists of sunny and rainy weather all year round, a scarf and a ski hat don't quite protect me from anything and would in fact contribute to the humidy that we face every other day. However, said ski hat and scarf would look awesome in shopping complexes that tend to get a tad chilly, up in the highlands of Genting, Frasers or Camerons and even during work when the air conditioning gets wonky {which is every so often!}.

Yes, I am trying to convince myself I need these pretty things but really I don't. They are just nice to haves *smiles* Thank God though that they don't ship internationally {or atleast not to my part of the world which kinda sucks} and that the prices nearly made me fall of thier chair {what with the conversion rates and all}. Anyways, feel free to want to mail these delights to me {the birthday is less than a month away *wink wink*}

Fifth Avenue Stripe Scarf look dashing through the snow-and stay warm doing it-in our whimsically striped scarf.

Hello Goodbye Ski Hat when the weather outside is frightful, it never hurts to add a little tongue-in-chic to your arsenal. this cozy knit hat features a cheery salutation ensuring you make a spirited entrance-and exit.

a mug of

Although Christmas has come and gone, I feel as if I never fully 'felt' it {does that make any sense at all?}. Browsing through the interweb and seeing such lovely Christmas ideas makes me feel like I should have spent more time enjoying Christmas and doing all them Christmasy things. And when I saw this photo, I suddenly feel like having a hot mug of mocha/chocolate/cocoa with marshmallows and a candy cane at the side. I think I go make myself a {though I don't quite know where to find a candy cane at this point in time} a post-Christmas drink of sorts. Here's to post-Christmas celebrations and treats *smiles*

graphic lap desk

I absolutely adore reading in bed... and surfing the interweb... and writing... and eating (yes I do get a good yelling at from my folks and B about this)... and watching telly. Basically I just love my bed. I can't recall whose blog I surfed to the other day, but I was click away and found these useful pretty lap desk. I have got an Ikea breakfast tray type thing but it doesn't have the cup holder and is not quite as stable as this lap desk.

It would be great to have one, particularly the black and white damask patterned one and the one at the back with flowers with the light blue rim. I can just see myself in my pj's writing or surfing the interweb in bed with a glass of something nice and cold whilst leaning on my mountain of pillows - awesomeness! It would be even more awesomeness if B could get one too so that we can hangout in bed doing our own things *snickers*

Now the thing is... does anyone know where to get one in KL?

My Name is Memory

During lunch the other day, B and I went to Kinokuniya in KLCC to browse after a lunch of McD's prosperity burger. As always I went towards the left hand side of the shop to browse the stationary section and later made my way to the book section, stopping first at the 'New Arrivals' section. It was there that I picked up the book 'My Name is Memory'. With such an amazing title, it was hard not to pick up the book to read the synopsis and since it was written by Ann Brashares, it was impossible not to pick it up to browse.

I have always been a fan of Ann Brashares. My first book that I bought that was authored by her was 'The Sisterhood of Travelling Pants'. I liked the book immensely even before it became a movie and have since become a fan of her work {I believe I have all of her books}. Her words were simple to understand and yet, they captured perfectly the feelings and emotions of the four friends in the book. I have a couple of her books but due to the alarming number of books I have acquired last year, I reckon I will be holding off from buying books for the moment.

Now to know more about what 'My Name is Memory' is all about, do read the synopsis and the excerpt from the book {I know its a tad small, sorry} and if you have the time, do read an interview that was conducted with Anne here...

From the New York Times-bestselling author of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Last Summer (of You and Me) comes an imaginative, inspired, magical book-a love story that lasts more than a lifetime.
Daniel has spent centuries falling in love with the same girl. Life after life, crossing continents and dynasties, he and Sophia (despite her changing name and form) have been drawn together, and he remembers it all. Daniel has "the memory", the ability to recall past lives and recognize souls of those he's previously known. It is a gift and a curse. For all the times that he and Sophia have been drawn together throughout history, they have also been torn painfully, fatally, apart. A love always too short.
Interwoven through Sophia and Daniel's unfolding present day relationship are glimpses of their expansive history together.

From 552 Asia Minor to 1918 England and 1972 Virginia, the two souls share a long and sometimes torturous path of seeking each other time and time again. But just when young Sophia (now "Lucy" in the present) finally begins to awaken to the secret of their shared past, to understand the true reason for the strength of their attraction, the mysterious force that has always torn them apart reappears. Ultimately, they must come to understand what stands in the way of their love if they are ever to spend a lifetime together.

A magical, suspenseful, heartbreaking story of true love, My Name is Memory proves the power and endurance of a union that was meant to be.

I wanted to buy this book but I know that I should not as I need to be saving more this year for the upcoming 'Project Happily Ever After' and 'Project Love Nest'. So, after reading the synopsis of 'My Name is Memory', I placed the book back on the shelf and walked away. I am now waiting for the paperback to come out or to get it from my fav store in Amcorp, Book Xcess. If you have read this book, do let me know how it goes. Till then, I will try to get through my mountain of magazines and books and wait patiently to read this novel which apparently will be made into a movie {I can't wait}!
