about. Also if you are in the Northumberland area, UK,
do check out Barters Books a unique bookshop which
was originally a railway station {I would love to
visit this bookstore and find some incredible reads},

In silence

When we speak to God
and wait in silence,
God hears us and answers...

and in our hearts we find the faith and hope
to go where He is calling us to go.

Steel Orchid

When B suggested to watch a movie last night,
I thought something along the lines of New Year's Eve
was in order, a chick-romance type hahaha movie
for the mid-week. Instead when I read aloud the selections
I had for him, he was very happy and keen to watch "The Lady".

Seen @ The Iranian

"The Lady" is the bio epic Aung San Suu Kyi of  directed by Luc Besson, Starring Michelle Yeoh {a Malaysian}, David Thewlis and Jonathan Raggett. It showcases the life she led, the many difficult choices that she had to endure and of course her belief and fight for her country.

The plot according to The Iranian is as follows: "THE LADY is an epic love story about how an extraordinary couple and family sacrifice their happiness at great human cost for a higher cause. This is the story of Aung San Suu Kyi and her husband, Michael Aris. Despite distance, long separations, and a dangerously hostile regime, their love endures until the very end. A story of devotion and human understanding set against a background of political turmoil which continues today. THE LADY also is the story of the peaceful quest of the woman who is at the core of Burma's democracy movement."

To be honest, the story of "The Lady" is so much more than that and I would recommend everyone to see it.

I have to be honest before this movie caught my eye at the cinema, I never really thought or knew much about Aung San Suu Kyi. Sure I heard about her, but I never really knew her story nor about her sacrifices for what she believed in. Her story was moving and uplifting. She is indeed a legend ~ and yes I wept a couple of times. As for Michelle Yeoh, I think she did an awesome role portraying Aung San Suu Kyi ~ you deserve two pats on your back.

Best scene, when she faces the guards who threaten to shoot her and continues walking on, defying them, looking ahead serenely. Amazing! Read more here and here if you would like to know more about her story

Watch it only if: This is just one movie you have to make time for. If you hate politics like I do, it's okay. The movie doesn't ramble on about it. It just shows you the power of one person who fights for her beliefs and dreams. I am certain that there are many people who believe this movie is about propaganda and the like but I choose to view it as it is. An uplifting and motivating story about a lady who believed and stood up for her country.

She Watches: Dark Shadows (2012)

'Dark Shadows' according to IMDB is, "An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection." It's a little bit more than that but that aptly sums it up.

When I first saw the trailer for 'Dark Shadows' I was super excited. After all, I enjoyed most of Tim Burton's movies and they always had some magic vibe to it and some clever fun lines thrown in for good measure too. Plus there is Johnny Depp which is always a plus although he can be quite a strange one.

Like B sometimes says... some trailers are better than the actual movie and sadly 'Dark Shadows' is one of them. The trailer made me quiver with anticipation, however yesterday when we went to watch 'Dark Shadows' with our friends, I felt that the movie did not quite meet my expectations. There were of course good parts, witty dialog, dark bits, funny bits and the like but mostly the story line and execution kinda wasn't as nice as I thought it would be {me being quite polite}. Oh well... there are always other Tim Burton movies that I would probably enjoy more *smiles* but sadly 'Dark Shadows' ain't one of them.

NEW Watch it only if: You were a die hard Johnny Depp fan, Tim Burton fan {just so you can tell people you watched ALL of his films ever} or if you have nothing to do or all the other movies at the cinema were full.

NEW... Star rating from DW: 2.5 stars out of 5 stars for 'Dark Shadows'.

unplanned spontaneity!

I am not really a spontaneous sort of person.
I usually premeditate on things too much and
worry about the what ifs ALOT so much so
that I don't usually do the things that I set out to do
~ a habit which I intend to change slowly but surely.

Seen @ Postmentis

Anyways, I forgot a friend's birthday last week and was reminded by the birthday boy himself that I had missed his birthday. I of course felt crappy about it and managed to get a dinner together for the belated birthday boy. Dinner and chatter were good and it felt a little sad to close the night at 11pm... when suddenly a friend popped up and said that we should take a drive to Genting Highlands {read more about Genting here}.

I thought no one would feel up to it since we are all not as young and fun and spontaneous as we used to be but lo and behold everyone was up for it. So at 12am, we found ourselves all dressed up for a night/early morning at Genting. We reached about 1am and I only stumbled into bed at about 6.15am. A simple night of gambling {its dangerous when you remember your way around the hotels and casinos} where I won 50 bucks and thereafter, a quick meal {I had black pepper chicken pie which I believe was the source of my stomach discomfort} and a hot coffee {mine was a cold hazelnut latte from CoffeeBean}.

Spontaneity. It's been ages since we did anything remotely crazy like this and most of us paid for it by waking up heaps late today *grins grins* but it was totally worth it. Thanks B for driving us up, you are super awesome but I am sure you knew that already, right, but in case you forget, you are super super awesome. Here's to more acts of unplanned spontaneity!!!

bleh

*bleh*
It's not that I am not compassionate and uncaring but really...
too much baby talk.
I don't really want to talk about babies.
Whoever's baby it is and I am not an expert nor am
I a baby whisperer so stop asking me stuff about babies.

Feel free to ask me about patterned paper or clear stamps
or washi tape or pinterest if you would like...

but really for just a couple of days...
no more baby stuff...
and really the whole
"if you are a mother then see how you will act"
is just not on.

I'm not ready.
I need to sort my own stuff out first.
Can't you underfreakingstand.
*bleh*

Starbucks rubber stamp

A super cute rubber stamp spotted on Wonderland Room.
Am seriously considering buying it but I am also taking into
consideration that I have a heap of other stamps that I have not
had the pleasure of using that is still in its pretty plastic casing.
Perhaps once I have used all my stamps at least 3 times each...
*snickers snickers* but its cute, no?

Stamp Design Washi Tape

OKAY... This has got to be one of the most awesomest washi
tape design that I have seen. I first spotted it on Crafty Musings by Hagit
and she kindly provided me with the link for the washi tape {thanks dear!}.
Look at it!!! The rabbit is so darn cute... but why...
Why does it have to be so freaking expensive *sob sob*
I guess I will just ogle from a far and do the day dreaming thing again.
But really... its a cool washi tape design for your collection.

Mum's List

Hi all. Fancy me writing again today!

I was surfing the interweb and came across a very interesting article titled 'Dying Mother's List Becomes Bestselling Book'. The article was basically about Kate Greene and her family and how she struggled with cancer and left this earth a little too early. Before he departure, she basically wrote a list for her husband and sons and her husband, St. John Greene. Her husband published the his wife's list as a love letter to her and since then he has been trying to go through the list with his sons. Some of the things that Greene and his sons have done are visiting Egypt and seeing the pyramids, snorkling  in the Red Sea and skating in the Natural History Museum in London.

The book is titled "Mum's List: A Mother's Life Lessons to the Husband and Sons She Left Behind " and is a book I would like to read but am afraid of reading. It will surely make me weep. I reckon this is also the kind of story that could change your life for the better. So, if you have read the book, do let me know how it goes. Btw, a movie tie-in is in the works.

*smiles smiles*

And we have begun folks!

I have been sleeping super late {and hence waking up super late as well} these past two weeks and I know I should quite this horrid habit and I will... soon... but tonight, I just wanted to write {it's been awhile}. It's not something super that has happened but it has been a packed day!
  • It's my nephew Ethan's full moon today {he is one month old!} so I got a whole chicken and red eggs and the like. I wanted to eat the chicken but was too lazy to chop it up and had char kuey teow instead {I waited for more than an hour but it was worth it!}.
  • I may have chosen the hotel for our stay in London. It looks super promising *smiles*
  • I met with a head hunter person who gave me pretty good tips for future interviews.
  • An old friend, P, came over to the Love Nest and got me my Biotherm facial cleanser {for a steal!} and some other skin care goodies {I think there were about 7 tubes and tubs of facial and body goodness} ~ and it's not even my birthday *woot woot* ~ thanks P!
  • Visited my in-laws and my family.
  • I saw Belle the beagle today after missing her for a week. She refused to even look at me and gave me a sulky face when she eventually did. What a dog I tell you! But I love her all the same 'cos she is just awesome possum. {Belle's sulky face below and me trying my darnest to coax her into being the lovable, adorable, slobbery beagle that she is}.

  • My Simon Says Stamp {they have awesome craft stuff and duh! stamps!!} stuff arrived in the mail and I finally got them in my hands ~ oh joy!!! {I will write more about the awesome stuff I got in another post {if I remember!}. Btw, I just love receiving things in the mail ~ happy things and not things like bills and boring crappy stuff.
  • I had ChaTime bubble tea and put in the drinks holder in the loaned Perodua Kenari car {our car's being sprayed and what not!} ~ super awesome! Drinks holders in cars are just one of the greatest inventions ever in my book.
  • I came home and decided to make a Mother's Day card and a card for my niece's 30th birthday tomorrow. So I took out the supplies and tried and tried again and finally I got it made. Two "creative" things. I don't have photos of them but they look pretty decent and I kind of liked the outcome of it. I used mostly rubber stamps, washi tape and patterned paper {all my favs}.
  • Then I realised {and shared with B} that the craft projects that I did or will do doesn't quite need to be perfect. Perfection, or more likely the idea of me needing to make things perfect, hinders me for actually starting to craft which is just horrible as I have amassed ALOT of supplies so much so that the arts and crafts police would definitely fine me or throw me into crafty prison for not using all the goodies I have collect since forever! But it's honestly a big thing for me to have made two creative things. I know, I know... it's just two things but really, to me, it's a BIG thing. Baby steps! Baby steps! Btw, my back is killing me as I was crafting on the floor. My table was filled with a whole lot of other stuff ~ ouchness! {Note to self: Clean table for craft purposes and putting food but of course!}
  • *On a side note, I have been doing a little bit of crafting for Project Let's Create, but that's a whole different type of crafting ~ updates when I get things done. The printer has gone wonky just as I needed it to work *tsk tsk*
So yes. A very long day it was today but it sure was fulfilling. I even watched "MoneyBall" {with Brad Pitt} but I was crafting mid-way so I don't know if that counts *snickers* Well, tomorrow is Mother's Day {HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all your readers who are mums or mums-to-be ~ you guys are awesome!} and my niece's 30th party which is a karaoke do. I can't wait for lunch with my family and then singing later with my extended family. It will be our first family karaoke party! *woot woot*

Good night folks! It's been lovely typing all this down {like typing diarrhea} and thanks for visiting this Little Piece of Heaven! I feel so happy when I see that people are actually visiting my blog *smiles* Thanks again. Happy Sunday all.
