a totally ramblish post

Today is Friday. I love Fridays for very obvious reasons such as the end of the work week *woot woot* and the start of the weekend *hoorahs*

This week I will be going back to my parents place for Christmas Tree decorating. Since we now have a baby in the family {my newphew EE}, my dad has decided to get us a Christmas Tree. I have always wanted a Christmas Tree, a proper big one not the midget variety with the very fake branches and twigs {let's hope the one they got is a proper tree} *snickers*

A new shipment of items for Hearts & Crafts is slated to arrive soon, and I really should be taking photos of the existing products I sell so that people can actually buy online. Must motivate myself to take the photos. Also, there are tons of photos to edit, namely the Europe trip ones... about 4k photos! *egad*

I seem to be rambling today. Which is great. That means I am freer and my mind is freer and I am happier. I love this feeling but there is always this underlying feeling that something is brewing under everything about to blow up in my face. Ok... I am being a tad crazy here... probably due to my tummy being in knots and acting all crazy. Will cut out this negativity and enjoy this easy breezy feeling.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the bosses and most of my colleagues are in Bali for the company which I am unfortunately not eligible to participate in due to the fact that I have not served my one year's servitude here. So being an obedient minion that I am, I am here in the office with proper office attire no less. But I am listening to music and enjoying the beats and stuff.

This is truly a meaningless post but in the years to come I read this post and think about this day when I wore my happy blue & white striped top with lacy collar and my black skinny jeans and turquoise slippers and I sang 'Hatin' on the club' by Rihanna and loving it {am feeling all Rihanna-ish at the moment}. Sweetness. Let's hope this happiness continues throughout the day and the weekend.

naked nails

It was supposed to be pretty straightforward. I leave work slightly early - take a cab to my nail salon and get my manicure and pedicure done for my pre-wedding photo session on Thursday.

but NO!

My nails are not done.

Firstly something came up at work, so I left slightly late. Then I couldn't get a cab and when I finally got a patient nice cab man to send me to Taman Tun for my nail appointment, I get stuck in a jam. And then it rains. And the meter for the cab is running. And running. And then  the nail salon calls me and tells me that if I don't reach in 5 minutes I have to reschedule ~ I am in fact very far away. Very very far away!!!

So, I don't have an appointment,
can't get my nails done and am stuck in a jam.
I feel down and angry and sad and annoyed.
I want to laugh at the situation. I want to scream.
But instead, I called Drama Dave and we go to Decanter for a drink.
I feel better after the very ladies vodka.
But my nails un-coloured ~ they feel strangely cheated and naked after I promised them a pampering spa session. I reckon I gotta go find myself a nail salon tomorrow during lunch to get my nails done. Pray I manage to get them done.

Am now frantically getting my props ready for my pre-wedding shoot while trying not to think about the wedding invitations that have yet to be done and the guest list which is 300-ish people too many!
Ahhh... thoughts of eloping did cross my mind several times over the course of these two weeks but as my best friends remind me, it will be all worth it at the end of the day. I will try to remember this in the next 2 months or so. *tick tock tick tock* the so called 'big day' is just round the corner ~ egad!

Thank God for B who keeps me sane and who puts up with the craziness.
I am so glad that he is back... things are back to normal.
Off to bed I go *smiles* I hear rain and thunder.
Sweet dreams all.

Btw, it's B's birthday today. No big celebration.
Just a quiet dinner at his home, Gossip Girl series on the telly.
And slices of black forest cake and a catch up session.
*I love you Boo, Happy Birthday*

I hope all of you have a lovely day.
As for me, I am going to louge about and watch tv,

1st Party @ the Love Nest

"And Lord we want to lift your name on high
And Lord we want to thank you for the works
You’ve done in our lives
And Lord we trust in Your unfailing love
For you alone are God eternal
Throughout earth and heaven above".
{One of my favourite songs}

The weekend was aweseome-busy-tiring-blessed.
B & I had our first 'open house / party' at the Love Nest on Saturday and invited our relatives and friends over. For the first batch {since the Love Nest is quite compact in size}, we had B's relatives over - we had a 'happy house warming' cake and a birthday cake for B whose birthday is next week. After that, I had my friends over.

It was good to get everyone together and I am so thankful for the lovely presents that we recieved ~ the 500 bucks Ikea card is just so awesome as I can finally start putting up the soft touches to the Love Nest with photoframes and the like *smiles smiles*, so thanks guys ~ both B and I appreciate it and let's share the wine soon while we toast to our first holiday away in what 11 years? Lastly we ended the day with poker night at ours {pizza, poker and all kinds of drinks!} with the guys ~ I love winning at poker though my hands were pretty good. So, there we were... from 8:30am {woke up scrambling to get the house spick and span} till 2am {watching videos after a night of poker}. The only thing I regret was not taking enough pics but its hard playing hostess and taking pics at the same time ~ maybe I shall remember next time.

Sunday dawned upon me wayyyy to early. I went to church, had lunch and then B and I went to get our wedding bands at Diamond & Platinum. I had initially wanted a rose gold number with a small row of diamonds but then the rose gold ring next to my white gold engagement ring didn't quite jive, so we opted for white gold wedding bands but the designs that were simillar to the rose gold ones that we wanted. I love the ring already and can't wait to wear it *super silly grin* After ring/bling shopping, B and I had our first Christmas Starbucks of the 2011 and we bought each other Starbucks tumblers ~ mine a Christmas number with pretty snowflakes and B a Starbucks lookalike {photos to be uploaded soon...ish}. Was a little annoyed at the girl who served us as she didn't inform me of the new redemption mechanism for the 2012 diaries and because of that, I lost 3 stamps ~ bleh!

Next we had two weddings in a row. A ROM (Registration of Marriage) and another wedding reception at a local country club. It was good meeting up with friends. So at the end of the day which was 11:30pm, B and I were both pooped and due to the lack of sleep since the weekend I am now having the flues and feel jaglaggish or how I imagine jaglag to feel like. Plus my new lenses on my specs make me feel as if I am floating. Am going to give it another week to get used to and if my then I still am not used to it, I will be going to back to the shop to get it sorted.

On an awesome note, my dad who had a minor operation about a week ago just got word from the doctor that he is cancer-free and that everything is going A-okay! *Praise & Thank You God for your goodness and mercy and for hearing my prayer* He has some back problems but not much can be done for that since it is mostly due to getting older. {getting older kinda sucks at times}. So, while I mop up my leaky nose and try to get pull myself together for the day ahead, I wish all of you a happy Tuesday. It's a short week for me as I am off for a short island holiday with my friends while B goes to Vietnam with his friends. One of the first times in a long long long time since we are going for a holiday without each other but I am sure the days will pass by in a blur and in no time it will be Christmas and then our Wedding Day *woot woot* {saying it aloud makes me feel antsy as we don't have everything sorted just yet ~ working on it really!}.

Cool Hotel Pools

I saw an article on Marta Stewart's site about 'The Coolest Hotel Pools for Your Honeymoon' and happy thoughts of splashing around in cool water or just relaxing under the blue sky while I snooze or read slipped into my mind. I really should be concentrating on work but then I thought I would post these beautiful photos up since I can certainly daydream and wish for a awesome and romantic honeymoon with a cool hotel pool. So, here's to happy splashing and pretty pools! *enjoy enjoy*

A full Saturday

It's been a busy Saturday. Very family and Belle filled. B is at an event today so I have been doing my own thing today. When he isn't around, I miss him *smiles*

I woke up at 7:30am today and spent quite a bit of time today to go through some Project Happily Ever After stuff, watched 2010 Poker World Championship Tournament, surfed the interweb, played Zuma, bought heaps of pretty ribbons, played with Belle and went for a walk with her and my mum, chatted with my family and went to my aunties house. I did a bit of daydreaming as well and pinning @ Pinterest.

Just wanted to say that Project Happily Ever After is moving along, slowly but surely. Today really has been a  full day ~ hadn't had one of these in awhile. Hope all of you guys are having an awesome Saturday.

P.S: I super love this quote about Happiness. It makes me smile.

Deepavali Wednesday

Today is Deepavali or Diwali the celebration of lights for our Hindu brothers and sisters. As such, it is a public holiday here in Malaysia today {yes another one *woot woot*} ~ I think we have the most public holidays in the world and I ain't complaining!

So instead of sleeping early last night, I had a long Mexican dinner with an old friend, Di from college {the few that I had} and chatted about this and that... mostly about men and their weird ways. I later brought her to see the Love Nest which is not a 100% completed but is more or less 'there'. B also had some friends of ours over at the Love Nest, so Di and I continued our conversation in the craft room/study/library {must be more diligent in taking photos and posting them up}. Di and I chatted until about 1am and then she left and I joined in the poker game that was already in session ~ and yes, I play poker and I kinda like it and also thank God that B and I both won *woot woot*

After poker, we kinda hung around some more to just chat and stuff. B reckons that our friends like hanging out at our place and I guess I feel that too. So far we have received only good comments about our Love Nest though my ex boss told me that it the kitchen was 'kinda boring'. Well, with the limited budget that we have, I think we have a lovely kitchen and a cosy Love Nest which is growing on me each time I stay there... I just am perplexed about how I am going to fit everything I own into Love Nest.

Anyways, we slept at about 3am-ish and work up late. It was just awesome lying on the comforters and just reading. It was like lying on fluffy clouds! B was awesome as he cooked me lunch. We had an omelette with cheese and sausages ~ yums while watching Supernatural Season 3. It was satisfying and so carefree. Then while B tidied and cleaned up the Love Nest, I snuggled up under the sheets and continued reading ~ am reading Yann Martel's new book "Virgil and Beatrice" {I have read some reviews and sadly it ain't quite a promising read but I will give it a go nonetheless + I did buy it anyways so too late to turn back the clock on this one}.

The rest of the day passed by in a blur of sleeping, watching 'Captain America', talking, laughing, grocery shopping and dog pampering and then what do you know, the day is almost over. I should have done more stuff. Like planning for Project Happily Ever After, or cleaned my room or something but I didn't ~ shame on me! But anyways, the good part of it all is that there is only 2 more days till the weekend! *smiles smiles smiles* Hope all of you had a good Wednesday. I had a good lazy one with a wonderful man and my family ~ I am indeed blessed.

I know it is also quite late but to all my friends and readers who celebrate the Festival of Lights, Happy Deepavali.

Another quickie

It's been another long weekend. I feel like I should take some time of to just rest since I don't feel rested at all! Am hoping that the annual report season will end without anymore panic attacks and that the event this coming Friday will be a success. I can't wait for the mini trip this weekend with B. It's been ages since we went away just the two of us ~ we always have such fun together.

Anyways, Project Love Nest is going super well. We bought a reading/living room lamp, a chest of drawers with a mirror for a super cheap price {it's a display unit, but it's so worth it}, a dining room set with 6 chairs {a steal since we wanted to get a table from Ikea which costs the same without the chairs}, mirrors and toiletry holder type things. I can't wait till the new stuff is delivered... then the Love Nest will be almost complete! Next we just need to get the soft furnishings up and of course organising our stuff properly into our walk-in closet and study.

I so want to blog more but my eyes are killing me. And for the record. My body feels like something or someone pounded me with a couple of bricks! Egad. Will try my best to write more soon. Updates a plenty! 44 followers and counting on Pinterest. Book stash has grown. Many weddings to attend. Many things to do. Another book sale around the corner. New stuff for The Knick Knack Box and heaps of new ideas. Daydreams a growing too. Have a good week ahead *hugs*

truly eventful day

Today is Malaysia Day ~ A celebration held on the September 16 every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation on the same date in 1963.

So instead of going to work today, I woke up at a leisurely 10am and brought Belle to the doggy sitters for a stay over the weekend. It helps her heaps as her interaction with other dogs remain limited and she is relatively shy/afraid of them. I believe in her mind she is a human and not a dog! *snickers* Anyways, am happy to hear from the doggy sitter that Belle has settled in and warmed up and is now friends with another beagle {who is incidentally underweight and of a very pale colour, unlike our dear Belle who is overweight - thanks to steroids that she had to take when she was ill - and tricoloured}. I worry less knowing that she is happy and enjoying herself!

After dropping Belle off, I followed B to Old Town Coffee cafe in Jaya One and had a leisurely brunch of mee siam + fried chicken + white coffee + a good read. It's a simple joy that I love. Reading and having something to nibble and sip *smiles*

Then {because I can't resist books} B dropped me off at the MPH book sale. So there I was carrying a cardboard box sifting through piles, tables and displays of books. Somehow, the smell of books and the pretty covers excite me and make me happy. I sound slightly delusional and mental, but it's just an awesome feeling! So, I now am the proud owner of several new books. How many exactly? Well... I lost count. *gulp* *snickers* I can't wait to wipe'em down and arrange them on my new white bookshelves!

And as I write this, a drama unfolds. Someone called my boss and told her that someone broke into their house. B and Mic {one of B's best friends} went there to check and report what happened as my boss is on holiday. Long story short, the police {heaps of them} broke down  the front gate and checked the house but no one was there. They may have escaped by the backdoor. *sigh. idiot hooligans will have their dues* Just called my boss just to tell her the news and at least she is relieved. What a way to start her holidays. Poor child.

Anyways, am off for dinner in a bit to savour the delights of Nando's with B and an old friend of ours who is getting married. We will later camp out on the couch to watch movies or Supernatural {which we are recently addicted too}. I was also at one time writing with her at Seventeen Magazine *smiles* Tomorrow, there is a Raya open house and a spa session in the works. This is truly an eventful day. See you soon blogworld.

Zoom! Zoom!

Zoom! Zoom! Went the weekend.
An hour more to go and it's Monday {yet again}.
The weather here has been cool and hazy.
The kind of weather that would make anyone want to
stay in bed to read or to snuggle up on the couch to watch a movie.
{I did both!}
Saturday was not quite that busy but today was jammed packed.
I foresee myself just sinking into bed and sleeping soundly soon.
Belle had a day at the dog groomers and she looks super pretty.
We also got a new Panasonic microwave today.
My first super gadget for the Love Nest!
I am excited and can't wait to begin my journey of culinary delights *huhuhu*
Who know's what the future brings for me and the cooking/baking.

Quick updates:
I currently have 37 followers on Pinterest *woot woot*
Am also thinking of watching "Wicked" in Singapore this December
and of course a quick visit to the shops in Singapore too.
It will be a Christmas treat for myself {just like the Lion King was my
birthday treat to myself!}. Should start planning for this.
Have this brilliant idea in my mind for a business...
lots to think aboutand research.
And once again, too many hobbies, too little time!
*snickers doodles snickers*

Have a good week ahead all!

Emo Crazy Busy

The last couple of weeks/months have just been emo crazy busy with work related stuff and other odds and ends. There have been so many times that I logged on to blogger and just opened a new post and wanted to pour out my heart or to post inspiring photos or just something really... but the tiredness I feel, the writer’s block that crops up and the sheer lack of willpower due to me being emo crazy busy, has resulted in little wisps of cobwebs forming on this Little Piece of Heaven *sniff sniff*  {I have however, still made the time to do my pinning *huhuhuhu*}

I do aspire to make amends and fill this site with lovely lovely posts but even as I type this post at the office, I wonder if it will happen though I am sure hoping that it will! Time management/procrastination seems to be the root cause of a lot of things. That and the fact that we have heaps of impromptu dinners and outings, errands, work, an adorably needy dog, piles of enticing books and addictive TV series! *snickers*

In the future posts, I am going to try my darnest to upload photos of my trip to Hanoi {this happened yonks ago}, my trip to the Philippines where I had my brother’s wedding, fun times I have had with my friends and B; writing and posting photos of our Love Nest which has come a long long way; updates on Project Happily Ever After and just more inspiring stuff I have found while web surfing.

On another note, the sales of my books on The Knick Knack Box has been awesome ~ thank you God and all those avid bookreaders out there. I hope you are indulging in your books now and loving them!

There is really so many things to do and so little time but am trying to love every minute of every day!

Btw, it’s my mother’s birthday today. “Happy Birthday Ma!”.
Here's to good health, happiness and a good life
which you deserve. Love you!!!

A kind of merriment

There is a strange kind of merriment ebbing and flowing around me in the office. It's probably  relief of having astonishingly good financial results this year, mixed with buckets of fizzy joy that the holidays are already at the doorstep and probably thankfulness that we survived a very draining and character testing week.

Most of the lights are turned off already and I see my colleagues hurrying to pack up to leave. I see status updates about the massive jams everywhere and thank God I will be taking a scenic walk to the Kuala Lumpur Petronas Twin Towers to catch a train home where B will be waiting to have dinner with me {bless his kind soul}.

A quick peek at The Knick Knack Box will reveal most of my books being sold which delights me to no end {thank you kind people}... but no worries, there are still some left for those of you are interested in picking up good reads with super good prices! *smiles*

So this is basically a short post of release and of thanks to God who has helped me get through the minutes, hours and days. For without Him I would probably be going crazy.

Have a good weekend all!
I foresee and awesome weekend and week ahead.
Let’s get ready for September peeps!

New BOOKs

This will be a quick post.
Just wanted to let you guys know that
I have uploaded more books onto The Knick Knack Box.
In total, I have 6 stashes of books and
its great that I have already sold 9 books!
*pats myself on the back*

Hopefully I will be able to sell more in the days to come.
*smiles smiles smiles*

On another note, I feel a tad sad parting with these books
which have been sitting on my shelves for ages.
They have been my companions and my comfort
and a good distraction from the sometimes hard realities of life.
I will miss them and hope they go to good homes.
Happy Wednesday all.

Family Sunday

Nasi Lemak: A popular dish in Malaysia ~ super yums!

I woke up today at 6am as I needed to help my folks sell hot dogs at the church cafeteria. Ruby my sister-in-law and I were in charge of the nasi lemak {rice boiled with coconut with egg, anchovies and sambal} stall and we managed to sell all 150 packets of it quite quickly *smiles smiles* In fact, I guess I was a little competitive I guess, wanted my stall to be the first one to sell everything and I guess we did win! *woot woot* I then helped my dad and B to sell the hot dogs and they managed to sell theirs not long after we finished selling our nasi lemak. It was quite a tiring morning and I feel myself slowly falling drowsy...

I just wanted to write this post as I have been neglecting my Little Piece of Heaven for other things {like Project Happily Ever After, TV series and Zuma!}. It was great spending time with B, Ruby and my family working together as a team *smiles* Now, I will head of to my room, cuddle under the comforter, and savour the last few pages of my book 'One Day' {it's almost ending which is such a pity} ~ I can't wait for the movie to be shown here.

Well, here's to an awesome Sunday ahead ~ might be going for an Elvis tribute night {btw, B was asked to guest star as a tribute artist but he didn't take up the offer this year ~ maybe next year he will do the King proud!}. We have a long stretch of holidays coming up and I am super glad for it {let's hope I get to blog more, meet up with old friends, start on 'Game of Thrones', work more on Project Happily Ever After' and finally post up the photos for my 'Week In the Life of DW'}.

August beckons!

See in my mind I wanted to have a super awesome first blog post for August. A post so super it would blow your socks off dear readers... but I had nothing much to really say or write. It's not that I did not do much of anything, but to be honest, I just am having trouble keeping up with time.

I mean can you believe it, it is already AUGUST!!! OMG! I can remember just thinking it was June an
d I was freaking out 'cos it was already mid-2011... and now its August! 2 months past June! *egad*

Project Wedding is just around the corner and I have yet to really do anything about it. Project Love Nest at least is moving along slowly but surely {but I still find it hard to call it home without my stuff and without my family though B is my family too} ~ I have yet to go about taking photos as the rooms are bare and mostly empty.

A Week In The Life of DW has come and gone. I managed only 5 days as I left my camera at home *sniff sniff* but I think that 5 days are better than no days {or so I keep consoling myself!}. Will be uploading them soon though I may be one of the last people to finish or more like start this project.

Well, some of the major highlights would be finally starting Pinterest  and I am hooked. It is an awesome way to store up ideas and to look and gaze at pretty pretty things. So do find me {and follow me} on Pinterest, I am sure you will not be disappointed. I particularly like the 'It's A Zoo Out There', 'Tea for Two' and 'She Hearts Words' boards! *smiles smiles*

Celebrated my father's birthday and had a very good dinner {spending time with my family gets better as I get older strangely enough}, met up with an old boss for Japanese brunch and a girly chit-chat session {she came to pick me up in a chili red Porsche and I was super excited to be riding in one for the first time!!}, watched heaps of TV and movies {love The Big C, likes Game of Thrones, enjoyed 'Arthur' and was afraid of the movie 'Insidious'}, worked hard @ work as I should and of course I surfed the interweb and pinned away! Btw, I think I will be buying the book 'Game of Thrones' as it sounds super interesting! *smiles* {Yes I know, more books? But really fantasy gets to me}

I am honestly quite knackered today, so I think I will call it a night. Have an awesome week ahead all. I miss this Little Piece of Heaven. Must make an effort to write more! *smiles smiles*

master of ceremonies

Today is my brother's wedding here in Malaysia.
There will be a Chinese tea ceremony in the morning
followed by a sit-down Chinese dinner in the evening.
I will be the master of ceremonies for the dinner and
have yet to develop the speech. I had initially planned
to quickly scramble some words together during work
this past week, but works been mental and I still have
another article for Home & Decor to submit!!!
So, here I am... trying to find the words to aptly capture
what my heart feels for my brother and my new sister-in-law.
{I am such a procrastinator - I get so pissed with myself sometimes}
My dad being my dad, doesn't want to give a speech which
is quite sad. I would like him to atleast say a few words to
thank the guests for coming and saying all these nice flowery
things about me {I hope there are nice flowery things to say}.
Perhaps he will have a change of heart then.
Anyways, have a good weekend. Belle is at doggy boarding
{she looked so adorable today, prancing around like a little pony}.
I have heaps of posts that I want to create and so many ideas in my little mind. So do drop by to visit next week... or maybe the next next week *snickers*

Published!

My article on Michel Ducaroy's Togo sofas has been published in Home & Decor - May 2011!!!
This is not the first time my articles have been published, but it's a first published article for Home & Decor *woot woot* Have not had the time to dig out my scanner to scan the pages of the mag.... soon soon.

Anyways, its a busy weekend for me. Am about to head off to cover an event for Home & Decor *smiles* It ain't fun to work on a Saturday but then its a freelance job and I need the extra $ and writing opportunities are good for me to get myself "out there" again after a long hiatus. I miss going for launches and events... instead more often than not, I find myself organising these events instead for the media. It's good to be on the 'other side' every now and then.

So anyways, have a good weekend ahead. See you soon!
